D’Amico Construction and Design believes that delivering on your dream takes a combination of vision, process, technology, communication, and craftsmanship. There are no shortcuts to greatness. There is no pathway to a beautiful end-product that involves cutting corners. There is no translating your vision into reality without investing our soul into the craftsmanship required to deliver your dream.

To do this in a repeatable and predictable way that meets your needs, we believe in having a consistent set of processes. These processes ensure that you have the right expectations going into a project so that we can delight you from day 1 and throughout the journey, not just at the end.

Here is what you should expect working with us!

1. Setting Your North Star

Our relationship starts with our first meeting and discussing your vision. Every dream we deliver for our partners starts with a vision. Maybe your kitchen needs a remodel. Maybe a layout challenge is limiting the potential of your space. Maybe your master bathroom is original to the home and in need of modernization. Maybe you want to add square footage. Maybe you want an ADU for your parents.

D’Amico Construction and Design specializes in making your dreams come true whether that be new construction or a remodel. It all starts with walking through your home or business and listening to you, hearing your goals, internalizing your philosophy and style, and learning what functionally works for you. We are your partner on this journey and are here to be your sounding board and collaborator, offering you ideas that match your desires – our job is to know everything that is happening in the world of design.

Once we understand the scope of your project, we will discuss budgets and make sure that our ballpark costs for the scoping are in line with what you are looking to invest.

2. Completing Your Design

Completing your design can work in one of two ways: we can work with your designer, or you can take advantage of our design services. Communication and collaboration are paramount to project success, and we believe in extreme teamwork, working closely with designers, architects, engineers and realtors to help deliver your vision.

Once the design is complete, we can also help you through the complicated permitting process. Northern California is known for difficult local governments – having a partner who has navigated these systems is sometimes the difference between an approval and a rejection. D’Amico Construction and Design specializes in full scale construction and planning, so we understand how to navigate this complex arena to ensure approval within a tight timeline.

3. Proposal and Contract

We heard your vision. We have completed the Design process and know exactly what your dream project entails. The next step is to get you a detailed and accurate proposal in a timely fashion. Our proposals include timelines for completion for every trade so that you can know exactly how we are going to approach and stage your project. At D’Amico Construction and Design, we use GANTT charts to manage our trades and control the construction schedule.

Our #1 goal is to deliver your vision on time and with exceptional craftsmanship. On time. It makes all the difference in a delightful experience. After you have received the proposal and we have made all the necessary tweaks on the details, we will send a contract to you via DocuSign, and we can finally start lining up all the talent required to make your dream come true.

4. Construction

Now the fun begins! We will always start by ordering long lead time items so that these materials do not stand in the way of hitting our schedule. We will store all materials in our secure, 4,000 square foot headquarters in San Jose.

During Construction, you will receive 2 emails a week, even if you live on site during the project. The first email comes on Monday and outlines the schedule and plan for the upcoming week. The second email comes on Saturday, and you will get a summary of what was accomplished that week along with detailed photos of the work. Communication and Transparency are fundamental to our process – there should never be a moment of anxiety or stress during this process because you will know exactly what is going on at all times.

Sometimes, our clients have new ideas or wish to expand their project. When this happens, we will send you a Change Order that becomes an addendum to our contract for your signature with a detailed breakdown of exactly what is being tweaked or added to the project, a clear description of the incremental cost or savings, and whether the Change Order will impact the timeline to completion.

We will invoice you according to the schedule outlined in the contract. The standard for nearly all our contracts is bi-weekly billing of progress payments. We believe in avoiding lumpiness so that it is easier for you to plan financially around the project. Nobody likes surprises!

You should expect to see me on site quite often as I believe in consistent quality control of each of our trades to deliver the level of craftsmanship that represents our brand and my family name. I am available 24/7 via phone or text – my job is to be available to you as you watch your house or lot transform. I will never send you to an answering service or random person at the shop; I take full responsibility for making your dream a reality.
